You can change the boot order of the drives in your computer's BIOS so the Windows installation on your USB drive runs automatically when you turn on your computer. The Windows USB/DVD Download Tool is an official, freeware tool from Microsoft that allows you to install Windows 7 and Windows 8 and Windows 10 without having to first run an existing operating system on your computer. Instead of selecting USB Flash Drive in the Media Creation Tool, just select ISO File instead, choose a location to save the file, and after it’s downloaded, follow the steps outlined in the Rufus guide above. If you just purchased a new device that includes Office 365, we recommend redeeming (installing) Office before upgrading to Windows 10. To check what edition you're currently running, go to PC info in PC settings or System in Control Panel, and look for Windows edition. You should also choose the same edition of Windows. Download the free Windows Media Creation Tool from Microsoft and insert a flash drive into your PC. To see what language you're currently using, go to Time and language in PC settings or Region in Control Panel. I selected E: for my USB thumbdrive which was the only option. Asked me where my USB drive was and I selected my only USB thumb drive I had which was completely empty. You'll need to choose the same language when you install Windows 10. I downloaded the Media Creation Tool to install Windows 10 Pro on a new hard drive. On the Choose which media to use screen, click USB flash drive.

See the system requirements before installing Windows 10. I think this may be because the USB was formatted with NTFS. To check this on your PC, go to PC info in PC settings or System in Control Panel, and look for System type. I am trying to create a bootable USB drive so I can reinstall to a new SSD, but on startup the computer displays a black screen with a blinking cursor, it will not start Windows.
